PEAC was named one of the "winningest" law clinics in America last year by National Jurist -- and it appears that our students are too.

This February, PEAC students and summer law clerks swept the championships at two national environmental moot courts. Lauren Goldberg and Erin Smith, a current PEAC student, won the national moot court competition at Harvard Law School (in animal advocacy), coached by PEAC's very own Allison LaPlante.

PEAC law clerk Liz Crosson and PEAC student Bethany Cotton, along with Diana Federoff, won the 2008 National Environmental Moot Court championship over a field of 70 teams. They triumphed over 69 other teams and beat out Georgetown and the University of Hawaii in the finals. The four-judge panel included Robert S. Smith of the New York Court of Appeals, Judge Stefan R. Underhill of the U.S. District Court in Connecticut, Judge Anna L Wolgast of EPA's Environmental Appeals Board, and Judge Susan L. Biro, EPA's Chief Administrative Law Judge.

We are immensely proud of our summer law clerks, and are grateful for our partnerships that enable us to enhance the skills of these aspiring environmental attorneys through "real life" advocacy work.
